How much is "verry hot"?

Most NEMA17 steppers are rated up to 80 C for allowable operating temps. AKA - blister you if you touch it long enough hot.

Mine definately feels hotter than my buildplate at 60 degrees. Havent found time to measure yet. Just unpacked and started printing.

The extruder stepper motor will always be much hotter than the other steppers. I haven't measured it, but I'd estimate mine is sitting around 60ºC at a fairly low print speed. I wouldn't be too worried.

Measured mine today during a print, about 58 degrees, so within operating ranges for mine at least. I will admit I haven't check the temp of it on my MK2S since I enabled linear advance there but will do next time I print.

around 60-70° C is absolutely okay for the extruder stepper motor. No need to worry.

Printing for 3:19 hours....
Ambient temperature is 21,7ºC...
The extruder motor is sitting at 47.2ºC.

I was going to start a new thread, glad i searched first. The other steppers, xyz are cool to the touch, all less than 80 F.
the E stepper is at least 125 degrees.

125F is like 51C...or there about.

I added a heatsink I had lying around. It gets warm.

I'm running my MK2S and new MK3 (Merry Christmas to me!) right next to each other and have been printing for an hour now:

Ambient - 23C
MK2S Extruder - 32C
MK3 Extruder - 51C

MK2-S: v3.0.11
MK3: v3.1.1

Definitely a marked difference but, if within specs and mods are happy, then I'm okay running it warmer than the MK2S.

Note that all the other motors on the MK3 run much cooler than the MK2. Only the extruder runs hotter.

Your Y on MK2S runs way cooler than mine ever did. It was the hottest, but all were hotter than you get. Yet it printed like a champ.

I suppose you could splice heavier gauge leads on the stepper but I think it's within spec, as is.
