Filament sensor wiring error

Hello!
I just built my mk3 kit, when i go through the wizard i get a filament sensor wiring error. I've reseated all the connectors and checked continuity of the wires to ensure none of them were broken during assembly. anyone have any idea what could be going on here? Thanks!

Re: Filament sensor wiring error

Some sensors have been DOA, others have overheated massively and mine even went up in smoke after having been working. Contact support via the shop chat.

Re: Filament sensor wiring error

Wiring looks correct. Aside from bench testing the sensor, better to contact Support and have them send you a new one. Fingers crossed it isn't the Einsy board!

Re: Filament sensor wiring error

Just received my kit yesterday, built it today. Same error. What was the outcome for your printer?

I am about to reach out to support.

Thanks
Doug

Re: Filament sensor wiring error

Has anyone worked out how to disable the sensor temporarily? There's a menu function, but it seems to be unwilling to act if the sensor wiring error occurs. I'd be happy to bypass the sensor and get up and running while Tech Support works on this.

Re: Filament sensor wiring error

I'm in the same boat. Got my kit built today, "filament sensor wiring error". Triple checked the wiring, took the sensor out and gave it a good eyeballing, etc.

Can't get selftest to pass to get my printer up and running.

Re: Filament sensor wiring error

Just disconnect the sensor... Mine was malfunctioning... Prusa sent me a new one, but i`m using the printer without the sensor... the new one is on the bag ...
The self-test fails but you can print... 😀

Re: Filament sensor wiring error

Replacement sensor fixed the issue for me.

Re: Filament sensor wiring error

Is the only answer to ask for a replacement? I have exactly the same problem . I also had to replace the PINDA probe cable because the connector was three pin not four pin.

Re: Filament sensor wiring error

I have the same problem.
I checked few times cables connections and I made sure that:
- main board is connected to the lower row with with cable on the second pin from left (first one is not occupied)
- sensor is well placed and pins are not damaged or cranked
I did it 6 times and still without effect.
Waiting for support reply on my email.

Re: Filament sensor wiring error

Also Bumming... but Tech Support Chat has one on the way, kindly...
Was expecting to print some things for Presents...
Doesn't let you print without some Calibration first.
Tried unplugging sensor wire and disabling the Filament Sensor, but it still has to do some Calibration before anything else.
I admit, it's running 3.4 Firmware, dunno if it matters.
Beautiful printer, though, I can tell. Precise CNCing and Parts Production all around. REALLY SOLID build!!!
Update soon.

Re: Filament sensor wiring error

Double check if Sensor wire is connected to the ones one the LOWER side inside electrical panels. Mine had an orange case as guide therefore I overlooked the fact that there are two sets of inserts! Took apart all the sensor to realize such a dumb mistake!

RE: Filament sensor wiring error

Just finish the Mk3/S upgrade today. Also upgrade the y axis with the new servo, idler mount and belt holder/tensioner and long screws cut off for idle pulleys (better that riding threads). I took advantage to tweak the hot end while at it.

Ran the self test and got "Filament sensor wiring error". Bummer. Checked everything twice. Retried self test, repeat. Double bummer. So I did manual calibrations, bed level, first layer. All is well right back to being able to print without a sensor of course.

Very bad to have a bunch of bad sensors sent out. Haste makes waste. It is the sensor??? I noticed the wiring on the original sensor the White sense wire was pin 4. On the new IR it is pin 5. Yes, I flashed the new firmware.

RE: Filament sensor wiring error

There is a very common build error where users plug the sensor in wrong and damage the old sensor it will literally catch on fire; and maybe even the damage the new sensor.  The socket the sensor is plugged in to has two rows of pins, and it not polarized. So the sensor can be plugged in many different ways, and only one is correct.

RE: Filament sensor wiring error

Same as above , just finish the Mk3/S upgrade today.

Ran the self test and got "Filament sensor wiring error". I used the updated cable sent in the upgrade kit, the new sensor has 3 connections the old one had 4. I have the latest firmware and software installed.  how many bad sensors can there be?
