Loading filament annoyance

Does anyone have any tips for this?

If I want to load filament in and the nozzle is in its start position (very close to the bed), this means that the filament gets caught between the nozzle and bed and turns into a big-ish blob.

I have to calibrate Z so that the nozzle rises and I can clean the nozzle.

How can I sort it so the nozzle moves up when loading filament?

Ta

You could raise it before loading.

Press and hold the select button until the move Z axis option shows. Then you can move the extruder up as much as you need.

That's great, thanks.

Does that mess with my Z height calibration?

I posted a design change request for this and also for unload.

I requested that the preheat be made part of the process - I made a similar request for unload - because a preheat heats both the bed and the hot end which is stupid when all you want to do is change filament. If load and unload need the hot end heated then they should heat it you shouldn't be required to take extra steps.

Load / Unload Filament should pop up a menu for load / unload what - PLA / ABS / PET and then just get on with it with a push now or pull now message.

There's another good recommendation / request that you can avoid the filament blob (that presents a lot of resistance) when unloading by simply extruding a little immediately before unloading.

Not at all... Z calibration will not be impacted.
