Printing Overture TPU 95 on MK3S+
I have been trying to print an airless ball or bouncy ball on my MK3S+ using Overture TPU 95. The printer is in a vinyl enclosure in my garage so it doesn't get too cold during the print. The first try didn't turn out well and I had a hard time removing the object from the plate. The next attempt I tried spraying the plate with hairspray but the object seemed to move around on the plate (too slippery?) - see photos attached. I specified 30% infill and gyroid shape. I used the preset temps: nozzle - 1st layer 240, 235 after. Heatbed 50. I've read in this community and online different settings but not sure what will work best. I also read about loosening a screw - not sure where and how, or if it is even a problem in my print. Looking for some help to get the printer dialed in with TPU.
Note:
- PLA+ prints fine on this printer
- I also have am MK4 that I could potentially use but the MK3S+ is in an enclosure in the garage to reduce odors in the house. The MK4 is in my basement for printing PLA mostly.
- I also tried printing an airless ball with PLA+ but it broke the first time I tried to drop it.
These are the settings that are on the Overture website for TPU:
Nozzle temperature | 210 - 230 °C |
Build Surface material | OVERTURE Build Surface, Textured PEI, Blue Tape |
Build surface treatment | None / Applying PVA glue to the build surface |
Build plate temperature | 25 - 60 °C |
Cooling fan | Turned on |
Printing speed | 20 - 40 mm/s |
Retraction distance | 1 - 3 mm |
Retraction speed | 20 - 40 mm/s |
Threshold overhang angle | 35 ° |
Thanks,
