Filament not sticking to heatbed
Hello, All.
I am 100% noob. I set up my Prusa i3 MK3 three weeks ago and was able to make a couple nice prints. Then I started having issues. I have tried to fix the problem myself without bothering anyone, but I am unable to do it. The Prusa PLA 1.75 mm filament I am using no longer sticks to the heatbed. I cleaned the heatbed with isopropyl alcohol, I added some glue stick (provided) and it still doesn't stick. I feel very frustrated and would love to receive any feedback that will allow me to get started printing again.

RE: Filament not sticking to heatbed
Hi Dimitri.
to sum up,
Your heatbed used to give adhesion, but it does not do so now...
I suggest you try something completely different...
leave the IPA and Gluestick out of the way.
try a household solution...
Take the build plate to the kitchen sink, wash it really well with hot water and a little dish soap, rinse well with hot water and dry with plain paper towels,
Handle the clean build plate, by it's edges,
replace on the printer,
re run your live Z calibration,
I like the 'Life Adjust 'Z' My Way' process,

Once set up,
try another print

@joantabb
Thank you for the thoughtful suggestion. I will do that now.

RE: Filament not sticking to heatbed
Had same problem lost 1-2 days. (new nozzle/clean with IPA, /clear with soap...
I tried a bunch of ways.. I have textured sheet.
what finally sort of worked is using the glue stick which came with kit.
but now have bubbling on first layer. no problem on other layers.
RE: Filament not sticking to heatbed
A new sheet will stick less then a used one.
PLA sticks more difficult on a powder coated sheet. Is still possible settings need to be more preciese.
This how I work on a pei sheet(there are always exceptions):
Most important to 3d printing is:
1. 3d print will never be like start and i have the print, there will always be problems!!!!!!
2. A clean sheet, use dish soap, then you can print on it. A few prints you can use alcohol, then again dish soap,
big flat models and models with small footprint on sheet- use glue stick(and not every glue stick is the same,
use one that makes a thin layer), and big flat models and small footprint, use a big brim attach to model so footprint is bigger.
Petg sticks to much on the pei sheet, use window cleaner, this leaves a layer on the bed, so it does not stick to much.
3. To get it stick very good, a 100% first layer is very important, see youtube for movie on this.
Every new print watch the first layer, and look if it is 100%, this will also prevent a big ball of filament on your nozzle wenn model let loose during printing.
Extra: (normally not needed).
First layer, print hotter.
First layer slower.
Bed more heat.
Most problems are first layer to get this 100%.
Bad filament is possible, or filament with water inside.
Move extruder to the top and extrude filament, it should go straight down(if not, nozzle possible blocked),
it should be thick enough(if not, nozzle possible blocked),
if Bubbling during extrusion then it has to much water inside.

@peter-m26
Thank you for your suggestions. I am will work on trying again today.

@kumkatony
Thank you for commenting. I tried the glue stick before, but maybe I didn't use it correctly. I will try again.

RE: Filament not sticking to heatbed
Glue sticks are not all the same.
Now i am using glue stick from china, this one makes a thin layer and sticks good, but some other brands make a thick layer and this does not work good, if you use glue stick, do some test to see which one works.
RE: Filament not sticking to heatbed
I'm a noob myself but looking at your photos, the filaments all look rounded. They should be squished (flattened) a little bit. In other words, I think your Z calibration is off and needs to be lower. I would recalibrate. You shouldn't need a glue stick for prints with a wide base like this appears to be.
