Dirty blobs

Not sure where these dark blobs come from. This is about 45 minutes in to a 3 hour print with Print Oxe transparent filament. Default temp of 210C. Looks like filament builds up on the nozzle then gets pulled into the print. Any tips to prevent this? General nozzle maintenance?

Normally this is from a leaking, the nozzle or above the nozzle.

Did you change the nozzle?

Have you leaks above the nozzle?

Search for  manual how to change the nozzle, then tighten the nozzle, how it is written in the manual.

Yes, I attempted to change to a smaller dia nozzle, (but I don't think the ones I bought aren't as compatible as advertised ;-( ). I did look for leakage but nothing obvious.

I'm about 1.5 hours into a long print, I did lower the temp to 205C, and haven't seen any blobs yet.

The trick to avoiding leaks is to follow the E3D-V6 assembly guide to the letter. Missing any of their steps yields unpredictable results.

Looks like the leak was introduced by not fully understanding how to replace the nozzle. The blobs have not been around before now (completed assembly several months ago). That said, I'm now in a worse spot and unable to unload filament. Not at all sure what I've done after just trying to get the nozzle back in properly. hot-end-prob

There are many places in the heat break where misassembly can cause plastic to melt, solidify and cause general havoc.  Try following the E3D guide - links posted in the other thread - when every thing is hot and you are at the loosen the nozzle step (before you loosen anything), open the idler door and try to pull the filament up and out manually by hand. Slow and steady works best.

Once the filament is out, then loosen the nozzle and continue.

But I suspect you'll need to remove the hot end to get things back to operational.
