X shift, Z not constant and play noise

Hi,

I'm having some troubles with my i3 MK3S. After a successful print with Verbatim black PET-G using prusaSlicer to generate the gcode of a 19cm height object, when I tried a second time for a similar print :

. the Z layers were not constant ;

. I had a X-shift of 0.5-1mm ;

. and now I hear some strange friction noise while printing any PET-G object :

For the noise (video), it seems like some play between the nozzle and the parts retaining it. When the head is cold the noise dissapears and I'm unable to reproduce it by pushing the nozzle with my hand. I've checked and all the accessible screws are tight...

The printer did not report any failure during the print with X and Z axis issues.

Not really referring to the belts.  See how much play there is in your extruder front to back and side to side.

@cwbullet

ok, so when it is cold (so I can touch it) I don't find any play when I try with my fingers/hands.

Good.  I had a lot of play in mine on my first assembly and it created poor quality.  Does it happened with every prints?

nope, it seems to happen only with PET-G prints, but I've not tried something else than PLA and PET-G.

Try a different brand of PETG.

I've tried octofiber and it was unable to stick to the bed, or melted during print (by the bed too hot)...

As said in the first message the eventual play seems to appear only with PETG which maybe means the nozzle heat is the thing that may provoque te play (?)

Check all bolts and screws and grub screws.

Check the whole printer if something is loose.

Clean rods and put oil on them, every few rolls you need to do this.

Check wen printing if nozzle is hitting the model, could be a small blob on the model, if printer hits this, the x axis could slip.

I had this issue and it was a grub screw.  Be calm and follow Peter's advice above.

ok, thankyou for the advices.
I don't understand why this happens only with PET-G...
