random layer shifts, both X and Y
I'm getting random layer shifts, on both X and Y axis.
Pulleys are fine, grub screws are fine, belts are fine, many prints are fine. Printing mostly in PLA. Not very complex prints, so no overhangs with snags or anything like that.
X shift seems to be around 1.27mm always, Y shift around 0.84mm always.
Anyone have any idea?
It feels like a missed pulse to the steppers or the steppers didn't get enough power. Do the numbers above correspond to something like a number of pulses to the steppers (a full step or a microstep)? It's at least much less than one cog on the belt.
RE:
Both x and y and fine and lubricated and moves smoothly. I'm out of ideas.
Can it be drivers giving up? PSU giving up? How do I check?
Check your belt idlers, you'll need to slacken the belts to do so.
Cheerio,
RE:
They seem fine...
I have more data. It only seems to happen when the printer moves far distances, and turning down max jerk/acceleration/speed seems to have solved the issue.
I still suspect insufficient power to the motors. Has anyone experienced this before? It worked fine for a few years...
