Impossible to compile and upload MK3 firmware correctly

Hello Guys,

I am a proud owner of a Prusa MK3 (I just uprgade to S version by the way) .

The MK3 works so well that I have decided to upgrade the electronic of my CR-10 S4 with an einsy Rambo and direct bondtech extruder.

So I bought all the require components and start to install it but I have an issue when I try to compile and upload the firmware on the board.

I can upload it but everytime the lcd screen show garbage characters and I can't connect octoprint to the printer

I don't understand what is wrong because I followed the instruction from the firmware Github, try different Arduino IDE, on different PC.

The problem doesn't come from the hardware, because when I flash the official ".hex" from Prusa everything is fine.

It seems to come from Arduino IDE. Is it possible to compile with another software?

I spent so many hours on the topic... so any help is welcome.

Thanks for your support !

Jérémy

I have no issues compiling the code from git and flashing to my Mk3. Last time I've done that was yesterday. But then I'm compiling on Linux.

Did you do this?

In file "Firmware/config.h" set LANG_MODE to 0.

😱 That was  the only thing I didn't try ... Now I can understand what is displayed on the screen ^^. Thanks a lot !!

I don't know why I didn't do this before.

Q:I built firmware using Arduino and printer now speaks Klingon (nonsense characters and symbols are displayed @^#$&*°;~ÿ)

A:Step 2.c was omitted.

Luckily they anticipated that and added it to the FAQ as well...

My bad, I didn't scrowl down until the FAQ... I was looking for the answer on others forums  😩

By the way, I am not a Star Trek fan 😉
