Hi Simone.

first check that the motor plug pins are secure in the plug housing, then make sure the motor plug is is firmly inserted in the socket, and try again

if this doesn't help, 
get a test meter and check for continuity

between the first motor wire and the second motor wire,   

and 

between the third motor wire and the fourth motor wire,   

if either circuit is open circuit, you probably have a broken wire

if this is the case, the break will probably be behind the extruder cable strain relief mounting point

cheap option... if you can identify which wire is broken, replace the wire... insulate repair!

my choice option, replace all four wires with flexible silicone insulated wire, insulated with heatshrink tubing from the fixed part of the extruder cable strain relief mounting into the einsy box...

expensive option replace whole motor with prusa extruder motor,

alternative option, replace with LDO cool running equivalent motor...

more complex options

consider 0.9degree motor and revise firmware, 

consider bondtech, or bunny science, or skelestruder upgrades with pancake motor and revised firmware...

other options do exist, but there should be enough here to get you going

if the motor continuity is good, try swapping the X or Y motor plug, onto the extruder socket, on the einsy board, and using the settings >move axis, e axis option, see if the e motor driver will drive the X or Y motor...   if it does not drive the other motor the  einsy may be faulty

Thanks for response, I tried the first suggestion and now the stepper motor rotates again. However, I can hear a clog (like a click) when the filament goes down, and the extrusion is weird. What can I do?

could there have been 2 wires faulty?

I don't think it's wires fault. You can note the gears of the extruder blocked when the click happens.

Sorry, time to edit is expired, so I write down there other informations:

You can note that the gears of the extruder are blocked when the click happens, probably that is the source of the noise. I think it's like the filament encounters some sort of resistence going down, but that's unlikely, because I replaced the nozzle and that still happens. Also the filament is extruded well until the click, then it assumes an irregular form. I think, but it's only an assumption, the stepper motor doesn't have the "strenght" to push the filament down. It doesn't block if there is no filament to push down.

Up, also another question: My 3d printer should still be under warranty, does it cover this kind of damage?

My extruder motor stopped working during a print, I found this thread and started trouble shooting the problem. I removed the plug housing cover and tried to remove the extruder plug, Since I bought the printer assembled I have no idea how to remove it as I tried to pull on it and it did not budge. Is there a clip that I have to press on either the plug or the receptacle to remove it?  If it is the cord is there a specific one I should order. I notice several different ones on Amazon. Same goes for the Extruder motor, is there also a specific one I should order if need be?

Update, I was able to remove the extruder wire plug from the circuit board there is a tab that locked in. However, I cannot figure out how to remove the wire plug from the extruder.

Update, I was able to remove the extruder wire plug from the circuit board there is a tab that locked it in. However, I cannot figure out how to remove the wire plug from the extruder. I took Joan's advice and plugged the extruder into the Y axis plug adapter. I tried to move the extruder motor using the Y movement in settings and nothing happened. Have to assume it is the wiring or the motor. Is there another source in the United States where I can get a new stepper motor with wiring??

I also have an extruder motor problem. (Initially it was a PTFE tube problem but after disassembly of the E assembly and re-assembly the extruder motor decided to stop working).

I followed Joan's advice and

- checked continuity, both 1/2 and 3/4 are ok (motor ok?)

- switched the X cable to the E plug, x-axis is moving when I increase/decrease the value of E, so the plug is ok.

What else could I try?

In case somebody should run into a similar problem:

I had a chat with Prusa support. The last suggestion (Thank you, Jakub) was: "Did you try removing the motor from the extruder completely to make sure it is not stuck? It is possible that the bondtech pulley is stuck somewhere and it causes the motor not to be able to turn".

That solved my problem and saved me more than 40€

As @joantabb indicated, Printed Solid has Prusa compatible parts.  

I contacted Printed Solid and Filastruder.  Both have motors from LDO that will work.  Pick the one closest.  Filastruder and Printed Solid usually get them to me in 2-5 days.
