Extruder Motor Binding

I'll start a print and it will print find for a while, 5-10 minutes then it stops extruding. I get a few clicks then nothing. The extruder motor stops turning as evidenced by a extruder indication attached magnetically to the shaft on the outside.

If I release the screw holding the door closed the motor will resume turning. I can then tension the screw again and get some more filament to extrude but again after some time the process repeats.

My thought is that I need to replace the Bondtech drivegears. But that's really just a guess since I'm not 100% sure what is causing this.

The gear in the door turns freely and the gear on the extruder shaft is firmly attached to the flat side with the set screw. Not sure what else could cause this or what else to check.

Best Answer by AfterTen:

Ended up being a bad extruder motor that was a little over a year old.

Any load at all on the motor made it fail. So when the door was open the motor had no load and spun "normally" but once it engaged with gears the motor would quickly bind.

Replaced the motor and all worked fine again
