Clicking noise then extrusion stops [Help]

My printer has run into an issue lately. Recently I moved my printer from inside my room into the garage in my house. Since then my printer has been having an issue with extruding.

My printer has been making a clicking noise by the box where the extruding gear is and then the extruder will stop extruding anything.

When this happens, I make sure to clean the whole nozzle and tube out. I have made 100% sure that there is no clog at all and have removed the filament inside. I have taken a part the whole extruder to make sure. When I do remove the filament, I can see that it has been grinded down by the gears inside. I will dispose of this part and put filament back in and it will once again print. This works until it again stops extruding and then makes a clicking noise.

I was looking for some assistance to stop my printer from making this clicking noise and stop extruding. I just failed a print after 36hours due to this.

Thanks.

This can happen if the idler pulley area gets too hot and the filament becomes soft or the filament roll or the filament in the PTFE tube has too much resistance or is stuck somewhere. Equally important is the spring tension on the idler door (pretension approx. 11/2 screwturns).

With the screw on the idler door, I've been confused on what to do with that. Some places I've read the screw should just above being flush, and some others being tightened as much as I can.

Could the temperature issue be a matter of the garage getting cold and hot due to the temperature outside?

Under no circumstances tighten it as tight as you can. As soon as the spring is preloaded, screw in about 11/2 turns and then test. If necessary, tighten by 1/2 turn until the filament runs through perfectly.
Neither heat nor cold is an ideal condition for printing. A constant ambient temperature of about 25 degrees Celsius would be ideal. You can also use a enclsure to keep the temperature more or less stable.

Understood. I did fix the screw being too tightened.

So for my placement of the printer, an inclosure would be best?

What material causes the problems, PLA I guess? If yes, check my topic "PLA printing - constant extruder blockages" where I described my issues with underextrusion or no extrusion and the changes I did in order to fix it.
