Beeping during printing
Hello Prusa Folk,
I recently got my mk3s+ and have ben printing some PLA stuff just for fun. I got some of the prusament Carmine Red PETG (beautiful by the way) and now during a print, the printer would occasionally just beep for about 3-7 seconds at me. The print doesn't stop, and there's no fault on the display. I have no idea why its doing this and its slowly driving me insane. I tried updating to the newest firmware (it was already at the newest release) and it still happens. Does anyone know why this beep happens? I tried finding a breakdown of different beeps (as if they were error codes or something) and I couldn't find anything in the manual.
If you guys have any help in this my sanity will thank you.
RE: Beeping during printing
Somewhere in the menus find the statistics fail stats display and look for error counts. Is anything there?

RE: Beeping during printing
Also - are you sure it is a Piezo beep, and not the motors singing on diagonal moves? They can sometimes get pretty loud if belts are too tight, or bearings are not properly lubricated before installation. Do a filament load preheat and try to compare that preheat beep versus what you hear during printing. Or, place a piece of tape over the piezo hole and see if the printing beeps are quieter.
RE: Beeping during printing
So I checked the fail stats, and it shows crash x 0 y 7, with no other fails. I also noticed the beeping will happen during preheat before the printer ever moves. What does the preheat beep signify?
I just went to do another preheat and see if it would do it again, and now I have no beeping on preheat. Is the printer supposed to beep if it detects a loss of filament with the IR sensor? Is it possible that the filament is too shiny and its making the sensor think that there's no filament?
RE: Beeping during printing
The beep at preheat is to let you know it's time to add or remove filament - and usually has text telling you to press the button to start the load/unload. It only happens if you've selected filament LOAD or UNLOAD. If you select the other preheat option, or manually set a temp, then no beep.
The crash will have caused a printer beep. And generally the printer to stop right then and there to ask you what to do.
Any chance you are using someone else's gcodes, not ones you've sliced? Or using someone else's filament profile?
RE: Beeping during printing
If you zip the gcode causing you problems and post it here - or the project file zipped up - it would let folk examine your settings - perhaps help shed some light on what's happening.

Have you checked the batteries in your smoke detector? 😉
