Prusament PC Blend / Glue

When using the glue, what is the recommended method for cleaning the print bed between prints?

If you mean the glue stick, I usually clean it off with IPA, and when I do use glue stick I usually take it completely off after a print.

When I use Layerneer I kind of buff it off with IPA between prints and when it gets too well used I'll take it off completely.

I use magigoo or dimafix from time to time. The adhesion agent is relatively easy to remove with warm water after printing.

Glue stick is specifically designed to be washed off with water.  Water actually works better than IPA for some reason.

Isopropanol 99.9%: https://hoefer-shop.at/technische-chemikalien/isopropanol/1-liter

I presume it’s best to clean after each print?  Sorry for the barrage of questions, I just haven’t found much info online regarding Prusa’s procedure for this.

I do not.  I will use a wet sponge to slightly smooth if it is roughened up.  I will add more if there are blad spots.  Once every week to two weeks, I wash the plate and reapply.

Glue stick tends to build up, something that Layerneer and similar products do not.  If/when I use glue stick I will usually clean it off after each print.  I've found that denatured alcohol seems to cut the glue stick residue a bit better than IPA.

Does layerneer work with PC Blend?  On their website it says untested.

I don't do that many PC Blend prints, but I have tested Layerneer with some small-footprint PC Blend parts and it appeared to work fine.  After the cool-down a quick flex of the smooth sheet and they popped right off.  (Of course I tried this on the one partially-damaged sheet I have, so NBD if it had resulted in further damage.)

I would be confident using it for PC Blend jobs that do not have large flat surfaces against the build plate.  For those, I would probably use glue stick, as recommended by Prusa.

@jsw

It works on smaller prints.  I would say it is hit or miss on larger ones.

What's the approximate footprint dimensions of the largest PC Blend print that you've done?  I was thinking, and the largest I think I've ever done was the replacement fan shroud for the printer.

I printed several that were 100 mm x 100mm or more.  They tended to warp a little.  Even a little can lead to issues.  I have one printer that I replaced all the parts with Urban Grey PC Blend. I just rebuilt it in PETG.
