New fan shroud?
Is this a new version of the fan shroud? I print the fan shroud from time to time using sunlu ABS+ and decided to try prusament PC blend. Is this an updated fan shroud for mk3s or should I just get R4 fan shroud?
RE: New fan shroud?
Yes - This is the new fan shroud for the MK3S+ upgrade.
I think it is necessary to upgrade the extruder printed parts before it will fit the changed design.
Have a look at my models on Printables.com 😉

I just printed it this weekend. I really like the extra arm. I think it will add stability.

The old design was a little flimsy, only hold in place with one screw and the fan casing. The new design is better.

Concur. I installed it and it seems mroe stable. I am sure the same will be true after heating.

Is it a direct replacement on the MK3S or do I have to upgrade other parts on the extruder to MK3S+ to use the new fan shroud?

RE: New fan shroud?
The one in the screenshot above looks similar in shape to the one I printed a while back but without the reinforced parts. The remixed one that I used is on the left below and the stock one is on the right. I printed them both in PC Blend and made the decision which to use when I had the machine torn apart for replacement. The remixed one came from the Prints section here and is a drop-in replacement. I'm sure a search would find it.
My stock fan shroud started to droop a bit after a fairly long run of ABS prints, so I decided to replace it, and it gave me a good excuse to try out the PC Blend.
RE: New fan shroud?
Silly me did not realize the removable support. Only realized after examining it closely, I thought it was weird that the only wind channel was the little triangle hole. After trying it out I think it is more stable. It is uncomfortably close to the heat block though. But since I printed with PC , time will tell.

Silly me too! Thank you to mention it here! For a removable support it was quite hefty printed in PC 😀 😀 😀 😀 .
RE: New fan shroud?
So are we saying the horizontal bar that comes very close to the nozzle should be removed before fitting? Thanks.
RE: New fan shroud?
@anasz
Thanks for mentioning that the bar with the triangular cutout is a support structure. I've been trying to print a new shroud out of ASA and have been struggling with that piece. I couldn't understand why it was there. I just snapped it off of my most recent print and it broke away nice and clean.
RE: New fan shroud?
Just bought a printed replacement fan shroud of PC. It was a new design that didn't fit my extruder due to the new support beam.
Question: If I replace all the extruder plastics with fresh design, fresh printed PC, will I have all the other parts needed? I have an original i3m3, with the extruder upgraded as part of the MMU2S upgrade. I think this means that I have the MK3S part set, and not the MK3S+ parts set.

@foxkid
Yes, I upgraded my extruder from the MK3S to the MK3S+ and it had the new fan shroud design. I recently purchased the MK3S+ printer and liked the new extruder design, especially the extra support for the pinda probe. Files for the upgrade are here: https://www.prusa3d.com/prusa-i3-printable-parts/ - in the upgrades section.
RE: New fan shroud?
@foxkid
You are supposed to break off the support
RE: New fan shroud?
@anasz
Either that or it will warp away.
