M92 Stepper Motor Calibration --HOW

M92 Stepper Motor Calibration --HOW

I printed 20x20 test cube and the print was off-measurement. 

On my other 3D Printer I would connect them to a Repetier server and in it there's a console that lets me send G-Code commands:

M501 (display current settings)

M92 (enter new parameter for each stepper motor)

M500 (save new parameters)

On the Prusa i3Mk3 I couldn't seem to connect it properly to Repetier. Repetier sees it (USB-to-serial port becomes available) but couldn't establish a working connection to the point I can use the console.

Please help pointing me in the right direction. I'm printing technical parts that requires some degree of accuracy: screw holes, bearing seat block and such where 0.1mm difference matters.

By the way, I think there's a way to send g-code in Prusa Slicer but that's not going to work for my purposes. I need an interactive console to let me read values of stepper motor parameters, change & save.

Hello and welcome to the Prusaforum!

With Pronterface this works quite well. Just connect the printer to your PC via USB and start Pronterface.

At the top of the page you can switch between XYZ Calibration and Extruder Calibration.

Thanks for the reply. Though it seems promising, I have yet to try downloading & installing it on a PC --my main working machine is a Macbook-- as current version of Pronter Face doesn't support 64-bit Mac OS (Catalina).

FWIW - OctoPrint works well for accessing the printer console. (Also on a Mac.)

I have set up a small Lenovo Linux laptop (64-bit) for my printers. I use it to run all applications related to the 3D printer (PrusaSlicer, python, bashscripts for Pi-Octoprint, changing/compiling/flashing firmware, etc.).

My advice: calibrate flow/extrusion multiplier only. The default steps are correct.
