Re: Firmware 3.4.0 for Original Prusa i3 MK3 (final release)

As an FYI, disabling the filament sensor appears to have stopped my printer from random pauses during the print...

I have suggested a feature: https://github.com/prusa3d/Prusa-Firmware/issues/1009#issuecomment-417869555

not sure if anybody from Prusa has seen it, there's no response anywhere. But I think this would make the filament sensor useful for autoloading and not ruin the print by not "seeing" the filament.

if anybody thinks this is a good idea, let's push Prusa to implement it for all of us by.

@Prusa team: consider hearing people's voices, add a Feature Request voting section in the forum. People could suggest an idea and others can vote for it, then you can implement what has been voted for 🙂

I can't see to find the "live z-adjust" inside the new firmware (3.4.0). It is not in the "tune" menu anymore. Did this feature get removed?

Hi Brandon,

Just push once the knob during print and you acces directly to live z adjust option, if not try to reflash.

Its under "Settings".. Below the RPi option...

I am pretty sure it was always there...

I have the same issues as mentioned above. Since I updated the firmware, the printer sometimes pauses and today I had the filament sensor error after which the printer couldn't resume, the z height changed and my 5 hour print got ruined... I printed with white pla, and before that 24 hours with black. I've been printing for 2 weeks since I build the thing without any problem, ever since the firmware update nothing but problems. Taught me never to update day 1 😥

I tried to compile the new firmware with "silent pwm fan" settings, but got error messages and could not complete.

Lucky me, as now I did not instal this version yet 😈

After 3.4.0 firmware update, my printer is too slow... during the calibrations points (just after Z calibration)... printing as well... and when I say slow, I mean extremely slow. Anyone has the same issue? I'll back out to 3.3.1 that was working perfectly

me too.
but deactivating the stealth mode the z calibration and the printing speed are ok.

during the print i still have random pauses of few seconds.

Re: Firmware 3.4.0 for Original Prusa i3 MK3 (final release)

Half way through the first print after upgrading to 3.4 the printer falsely decided the filament was out. I unloaded and reloaded but the extruder would not return to where it left off. I lost the time and material in that print. I rolled back to the previous firmware.
I hope that Prusa gets this right before my MM2 arrives.

After upgrading to 3.4.0, my printer has started pausing during prints.

It will be printing, then it stops and waits for a second or two. then the LCD refreshes and the printing starts again.
Then it prints for a while then the cycle repeats. It doesn't appear to be impacting print quality but all the pauses makes the print time a lot longer.

Thanks. I think I'll wait another build... to many other complains ... 😉

Maybe not the solution you're looking for but disabling the filament sensor appears to have fixed it for me.

with the newest firmware mine pauses for a few seconds sometimes. Also the filiment sensor turns its self off when the print stops to change color. think im gonna go back to the prev version.

filiment sencer is worst its ever been. few times it triggers and you loose the print entirety it will go like it trys to restart then just moves across the build plate extrmly slow no wear near the print and never restarts. think im going boack to previous verson

Re: Firmware 3.4.0 for Original Prusa i3 MK3 (final release)

Also having the bizarre issue of pausing during prints with filament sensor enabled on firmware 3.4.0. It's pretty random but I managed to catch a short video of it here happening several times in a row. I have an extruder visualizer installed and I can see it slowly retract/extrude around 15mm during the pause and then starts right back up printing again. My guess is, that this is not filament runout detection, but false detection of lack of movement in the filament, and the retract/extrude is some attempt at jam-clearing to get filament moving again.

Filament is plain black Hatchbox PLA which normally gives me no trouble at all with the filament sensor enabled.

I have also noticed the extruder visualizer retracting very far during the pauses. In my case the filament got stuck, and the prints becoming ruined. I have struggled all evening until I looked here.

After turning off the filament sensor, it prints as reliable as usual again.
