Re: Firmware 3.4.0 for Original Prusa i3 MK3 (final release)
I never had so many problems with an upgrade. Stealth mode doesn't work (slowest), Filament sensor fails, Printer pauses in the middle for few seconds... Moving back to 3.3.1
Re: Firmware 3.4.0 for Original Prusa i3 MK3 (final release)
Everything just worked fine till this update.. The filament sensor drives me crazy, by its faulty detects.. its offers to turn it of (after the 3rd cleaning too) but i used this feature a lot.. now its just wasting my filament and my time
Re: Firmware 3.4.0 for Original Prusa i3 MK3 (final release)
I rolled back to 3.3.1 and shes her happy self again! 🙂
Re: Firmware 3.4.0 for Original Prusa i3 MK3 (final release)
Any updates on this? I'm having the issue as well and I'm not seeing any feedback from support.

I just now found this thread, by coincidence I opened a bug report here:
Re: Firmware 3.4.0 for Original Prusa i3 MK3 (final release)
Have the same issue with the pause every now and then when printing black ASA filament. Going back to previous firmware.
Re: Firmware 3.4.0 for Original Prusa i3 MK3 (final release)
Tried multiple filaments, blue, pearl bronze, white. During print from original gcode (gears at 150u), it stopped asked for remove filament and reinsert, after that it went to right position to continue (while heated) it stopped on the spot, after two minutes i went into menu, there was suprisingly "continue" print for no reason (i did not pause before), i tried to use "continue" option and after that nozzle slowly start to move diagonally towards home and very slowly Z-down melting through the part of print. I stopped that immediately with reset button.
Since that, no filament loaded without message asking for disable filament sensor, and even without sensor - prints are weirdly underextruded on random points.
I tried to dismount extruder, clean sensor, reconnect that, remount everything.
Self check is OK, but still no clue how to slove this.
Re: Firmware 3.4.0 for Original Prusa i3 MK3 (final release)
i had exactly the same behavior since updating to the new Firmware.
Fortunately only once within the last 10 prints.
But the more i read about the current firmware, the more i think it would be better to switch back to the previous firmware (for now).

Re: Firmware 3.4.0 for Original Prusa i3 MK3 (final release)
Day 3 with the new firmware, only the 1 filament run out issue observed. Power Panic fix is definitely effective, I've printed about a hundred invoices with the farm running without losing a print. Historically, I would have lost at least 1 print by now.
I have the firmware running on 9 machines at 50% capacity without issue. Thanks guys!!!!
Re: Firmware 3.4.0 for Original Prusa i3 MK3 (final release)
Also got filament sensor errors and finally disabled it, also much more noise with 3.4.0
Back on 3.3.1 with reenabled filament sensor, everything back to normal
Re: Firmware 3.4.0 for Original Prusa i3 MK3 (final release)
Same here - not much change that I would use, but the filament sensor far more noisy. Have ended up turning it off most of the time.
Re: Firmware 3.4.0 for Original Prusa i3 MK3 (final release)
For the first time I must be negativ! After installing this update the filamentsensor made more problems than I have ever had and my Octoprint failed mid print a number of times. This has never happend before. Going back to the previous release all is normal. I hope this is not symptomatic of the future. I am holding of on ordering my MMU2 until i have new release that actualy is an improvement. Could it be theathing problems with MMU2 spilling over?
Re: Firmware 3.4.0 for Original Prusa i3 MK3 (final release)
I could not agree more. Seems that the focus is only on MMU2 these days. This firmware version should be removed from the download section.
I hope Prusa gets their act together, but somehow it feels like we are shouting in the wind...
Re: Firmware 3.4.0 for Original Prusa i3 MK3 (final release)
I am sure this thread will be seen and noted, and reported back to the devs. I normally update on every release of f/w but this time I'm keeping my machines on 3.3.1 until this situation is resolved.
I am concerned though as I have an MMU2 on order but that won't be with me for another month or so. Hopefully time to sort this out!
Re: Firmware 3.4.0 for Original Prusa i3 MK3 (final release)
I too have "downgraded" to 3.3.1. At this point I'm pretty sure the focus will remain on MMU2 functionality and find 3.3.1 to be acceptable for my needs. The only thing I really want or need is better mesh bed leveling so I can get a more consistent first layer other than that I'm indifferent to any other fixes.
Re: Firmware 3.4.0 for Original Prusa i3 MK3 (final release)
I've been running this release since the night of distribution without incident on 9 machines. Only problem observed is with a failing sensor that tripped the disable feature after filament change to return and halt when complete. Otherwise, this rev is good to go. I have been printing nonstop, and it's nice not killing a print because of a sensitive power panic.
I'm keeping the rev, and the naysayers I think are dead wrong here.

I guess it must be coincidence then, though I did have this issue with RC1 as well. In any case being that I had no filament sensor or power panic issues with 3.3.1 there's really no reason for me to upgrade.
Re: Firmware 3.4.0 for Original Prusa i3 MK3 (final release)
Maybe it is placebo but I think the stealth mode is a lot louder (and faster movements, especially Y-Axis which is loud) than on 3.3.1... Did anyone else notice this?
According to the change logs:
Stealth mode loudness reduced
In previous firmware release (3.4.0-RC1), stealth mode speed was increased which led to significantly increased loudness. In the current firmware version stealth mode max. feedrate limit has been reduced to 100mm/s, which leads to reduced loudness and preserves reduced print time compared to older firmware versions (3.3.1 and older).
What was it before and how do I get it back (apart from flashing 3.3.1) 😀 😀 ? On prior firmware the printer was pretty much silent now I can hear it over two rooms with the doors closed which is really annoying for night prints...
Maybe Prusa can do different presets like "quiet" with 3.4.0 speeds (better print time) and a real "stealth" mode with 3.3.1 speed (slower printing) like it was before?
Re: Firmware 3.4.0 for Original Prusa i3 MK3 (final release)
Filament Sensor still need tweaking - On firmware ❗
I still have fake positives, as simple as Solid Red ABS, in the middle of the print. And sensor is new, no dust,
That can be ok if they change the way firmware react
Suggestion:
Instead of click to unload what about:
"Runout detected, please take action:
1. Unload filament
2. Skip & continue
3. Disable sensor & continue"
This makes much more sense instead of force us to unload and load again the same filament wasting time. This will not hurt anyone who have a sensor that work 100% of the times because you still need to click ok and thats the first option anyway 🙂 Such a simple design that should be present from start.
