x-axis and extruder motor switched during assembly... Please help before i regret doing what i want to do 🙂

I just finished assembling the extruder to the x axis, and when I was wrapping the wires, after nearly having a fit over that nylon filament, I realized my motor wire is oddly shorter than all the rest of the wires being wrapped. It came to my attention that that was the X AXIS motor and not the Extruder Motor. I'm crushed by the idea of having to take it all apart again. But also what are the risks of just cutting both motor wires switching them and soldering them back on.... I've already had to solder a y axis wire because of curious my dog.

Would love some advice.

I would be tempted to go this way too.  Bear in mind that the extruder wires are continually flexed in use so very good joints with strain relief would be required...

But it doesn't take long to change a motor.

Cheerio,

Take it back apart and do the job properly.  As Diem says those wires are continually moving, so any introduced stress point is another failure point.   It may work for awhile but the operating life will be reduced.

Besides if you managed to fit the wrong motor even though they are labelled then what other seemingly minor but really very important step have you done slightly wrong ?  Slow down, be meticulous, double check everything.  Even putting a cable tie on in a different orientation to that pictured in the manual can cause problems.  That is how precise you need to be when building.
