Kit MK3S issue with nozzle hitting print and knocking it off build plate

Hi all,

I recently purchased a MK3S kit and have been unsuccessful in completing any prints with the machine. I've been using the 3DBenchy model from the included SD card and it appears to print perfectly until after a while it appears a strand of filament sticks up and the nozzle then runs into the strand(s), knocking it off the build plate and ruining the print.

I have run the test G code file from jeffjordan ( https://forum.prusa3d.com/forum/original-prusa-i3-mk3s-mk3-assembly-and-first-prints-troubleshooting/life-adjust-z-my-way/ ) and have a near-perfect result for the test square using the included silver PLA at 215C/60C

All issues seem to appear after the first 5-50 layers or so. The failure is not consistent at any specific layer. I have 3D Benchy models failing at 20% and some at 80% completion. I do not believe this is a bed adhesion issue.

I have re-ran the automatic calibration of the Z axis and it appears to be level by eye. I am not sure what is causing the problem and am looking for suggestions for things to try.

Thanks!

Can you post a pic of the underside showing the 1st layer of a failed print? It almost always comes back to adhesion, but filament issues can happen. Interesting that the sample prints fine. Zip and upload your sliced project (3MF) file or at least summarize your print settings.

I have a picture of the underside of the first 3-4 layers of the castle model on the SD card. I notice some small areas at the top right of the image where there is some minor wave pattern. Note that at the bottom of the image, the nozzle crashed into the part causing it to lift and bend.

As far as print settings go, I am using the default G Code files at the moment from the SD card so I'm not really sure what the settings are. I can comment that I have not altered the files in any way. I can slice a file but I have not yet dialed in my settings on PrusaSlicer.
