Initial build - Lubrication?

Finished a kit build of the MK3S over the weekend. It was fun and all is working.  I didn't see anything about lubrication after the initial build, but I may have missed something. Is that necessary?

Yes. The bearings ship only with shipping oil which is not a good lubricant; it's only meant to keep out rust.

PR maintains the bearings are pre-lubricated, but if you search here, you will find many posts on the correct lubricants to use and how to pack the bearings with it.

Search around for recommendations for lubricating the linear bearings. Unfortunately, it's an assembly step that is often overlooked.

Best advice is to pack the bearings with grease prior to assembly.  Lithium based (Lith-Eese, Lubriplate, etc.), or synthetic base (Superlube) are acceptable.

Thanks. Is there a guide to do this after assembly? I’m wondering how much I would need to take apart.

No guides, just brute force ...  You can get by with oiling the rods and working the axes back and forth once in a while.  Or try applying grease and doing the same, but the grease seals work fairly well...

Honestly, once you free the rods, removing the bearings is not bad.

Only one that takes a little digging is Y.
