Filament not extruding

My printer had been working great since I bought it several months ago. Last night, I went to check on a print and it had stopped extruding filament. My initial thoughts were a clog in the nozzle. I used the auto unload feature and that worked great, but when I tried to use the Load feature it doesn't pull the filament at all. The printer just  displays the "is the filament the correct color" prompt.  Is there a good place to start to diagnose exactly what is going on? (or someone in MA or southern NH who i can bring it to for repairs?)

I also noticed that the mounts surrounding the hot end were very soft from the heat (and I successfully broke one of the pieces off yay me!), so while  I am waiting for a new one it may take a few days to try things

Thanks,

James

RE: Filament not extruding

I fixed a similar issue on my own MK3S yesterday. Can you check your filament idler door/gear to see if it catches somehow... ever so slightly? That was my issue and took me weeks to find out, finally together with the Prusa troubleshooting team I found the issue.

@michel-s5

How did you isolate the problem and what was the fix?

@del-wilson

It is fixed. I needed to step away from it for a day or so then realized the grub/set screw on the extruder shaft had loosened, and it was just spinning. It’s been working fine since then.
