Can I use this grease for linear bearings?

Hey guys,

After reading the assembly manual comments and a plethora of blog and forum posts, I've decided to de-grease and pack the linear bearings when assembling my MK3S which is hopefully arriving today. The recommended grease was "white lithium grease", N.L.G.I. 2. The only product I could source matching these specs, was this:

https://api.kroon-oil.com/pdf/en/informationsheet/part/2065/EXP/PI-PV1004-white-action-grease-ptfe-EN.pdf

After reading deeper in some posts, some people mention not to use grease with too high viscosity (which makes sense). I don't really know anything about grease in general. The grease is obviously made for bearings, but is it possible to read from the product sheet whether the grease is suitable for the linear bearings?

Someone recommended Superlube #21030 which seems to have a viscosity of 69 cSt at 40 deg C, whereas the one I linked above has a viscosity of 115 cSt. The same person explicitly recommends not to use Superlube #92030 because of its high viscosity. From what I can find, its viscosity is 5000 cSt at 25 deg C, so I have no idea if 115 is a high or a low value.

You are certainly not wrong with a lithium soap grease of penetration class 1 to 2. It is best to look for a dealer near you, where you can also get the grease in small quantities.
It is only important that you clean and lubricate the linear ball bearings before you install them on the linear rods.

Statt zu klagen, dass wir nicht alles haben, was wir wollen, sollten wir lieber dankbar sein, dass wir nicht alles bekommen, was wir verdienen.

I actually already bought a tube of the grease I linked to, so it's ready to go on my workbech; just didn't want to use it if it's too thick for this purpose and it'd do more harm than good.

@softdrink

I have used this grease on one of my printers.  I use this and a thinner Superlube.

Great, thanks! Just got to the bearing part of the assembly 💪🏼 How do you apply it? The two-rod method or just mushing it around with something that won't chip off (like a straw or a plastic stick of sorts)?

@softdrink

I washed my bearings in IPA to remove any dirt or old lubricant and then added it to the rods/bearings and allowed the motion to work it in.  I wiped off any excess.
