1.75mm nylon for wire bundle
Hi there,
I am upgrading my MK2S to a MK25S. I missed out on the kit so I'm doing it piecemeal. The bed and Rambo already installed...and printing the last extruder parts right now. I noticed that the MK2.5S uses 1.75mm nylon instead of 3mm. I imagine I really should use nylon and not ABS, PETG, etc...but I don't have any on hand. Checking out Amazon I found a wide variety of nylon & nylon blends such as Taulman 230/645/910. I'd like to grab something cheap since my only application right now is getting the extruder installed. Any advice would be appreciated.

Hmmm, that's a good question, I didn't consider that for my upgrade which I'm doing this weekend. Is the old piece too short? Guess I will find out.

I'm pretty sure the MK2.5S still uses a 3mm nylon support filament for the cabling, or at least I don't remember changing to a thinner one from 2s to 2.5s. In any case it is only 500mm long, so buying a whole kilogram just for that is silly.
I just used a piece of smooth round trimer line from the hardware store. Power weed trimmers have a variety of available filaments, usually made of nylon, known as trimmer line. These are available in small packages in several diameters and cross sections.

You are right, it's still 3mmish material. I ended up finding some in one of our drawers.
The old one was long enough but was noticeably less stiff than the one which came out of the old printer.
