Help Needed: “PIN NOT REACHED” Error on Prusa XL 5 Extruder

Hello Prusa Community,

I recently encountered an issue with my new Prusa XL 5 Extruder and am seeking some advice. After successfully installing all tool heads and running the calibration, I ran into a problem during the tool offset calibration.

Specifically, the calibration failed on tool head number one, causing the printer to reboot and display a red screen with the error “PIN NOT REACHED.” To troubleshoot, I switched tool head number one with tool head number five. Post-switch, all tool heads except for number five calibrated correctly, suggesting the issue lies with the tool head itself rather than the printer.

Here’s what I’ve tried so far:

• Upgraded the firmware to the latest version. • Ensured that the problem persisted across the switch, indicating a tool head issue.

Before I delve deeper into potential hardware issues, I wanted to reach out to see if anyone here has experienced something similar or has any advice. Could this be a sensor issue, or something else entirely? Any tips for further troubleshooting would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance for your help!

Best regards,

Yes, I got help from Prusa Live Chat and followed up with the tech team through emails. We did multiple tests and sent videos and photos several times. Ultimately, they agreed to replace the tool head, and I sent the old one. I found out the problem in my case within the load cell.

I received the head tool, and everything works fine now

I’m having a similar issue.  Did you get it figured out?

Ok, similar experience with support chat.  Pics and videos, moved the tool head around and the issue followed. They determined it to be the load cell and are sending a replacement load cell/heatsink assembly but not the entire head.  I’m guessing they were able to narrow it down to the load cell due to your issue.
