Print Quality after Firmware Update 5.1.2

Hi all

Since I've updated my Mini to the new firmware I'm experiencing some quality issues:

  • Underextrution at seems (see here)
  • Artefacts near corners (red in pic below)

While the first one seems to be controlable to a good extend by retraction settings, I couldn't find a setting which had any effect on the second issue.

What i tried:

  • Various settings in Prusaslicer, e.g. retraction
  • IS or no IS doesn't make a huge difference
  • PA/LA calibration
  • Accelleration/Jerk test

What I noticed

  • Checked gcode and tool travel - nothing special to see, basically just a straigth line, no crossing
  • Sometimes these artefacts seem to be periodic in z - see pic belsow
  • Almost looks like there's mechanical force applied - as if the nozzle is pushed sideways into the part. On the top level it's even sticking out, as if it is squished

Has anyone expirienced similar issues? Any ideas what else I could try?

Best

I found the problem, and it has nothing to do with the updated firmware nor IS.
The silicone sock was not sitting well on the hotend and interferred with the part. Without the sock it work like a charm.

Much of this is already discussed in this thread:

https://forum.prusa3d.com/forum/input-shaper-mini/under-extrusion-or-gaps-at-seams-with-input-shaper-settings-and-5-x-firmware/

Take a look at all the suggestions there.

Hi Mark

Thanks for the reply.

That is the same thread which I linked in my original post. It is mainly focused on the seams issue which I found well controllable by tuning retraction settings (as discussed in the other thread). The seam is marked in green in the picture above.

The other artefacts are however no seams and none of the discussed setting show any effect on that. I tried Linear Advance/Pressure Advance tuning. And even an 'old' gcode from before firmware update resulted in the same behavior.

Really wondering if tuis just happens on my mini?

Regards

Mario
