Print quality and stringing

I printed this recently on my Prusa Mini+ and was wondering if I could improve this print quality or whether I just need to sand it. I also experienced a lot of stringing on this and many other prints, is it possible to avoid this?   I’m very new to 3D printing as you can tell so any help would be great

Did you print this horizontally or vertically,

and where does the file come from?

The file is from thingeverse and was printed horizontally would it be better vertically? I’m also unsure whether my nozzle is too low or high because the bottom looks like this on my calibration test.

Always print these types of objects vertically.

And do you have a link to these chess pieces?

Can’t add the link but here’s the product. Also do you have any tips on preventing stringing.

See p. 19 of the Prusa manual where the First Layer Calibration is explained.

It is also important that the SPINDA is mounted at the correct height!

Load a light color filament and do a first filament calibration.

The height of the nozzle is correct if you cannot rub the filament off the bed with your finger.

At the rectangle that is printed at the end, the lines must be connected!

So is being in one piece that you cannot see through.

The bottom layers on your frog are not squished enough.  They should look like this ideally

Thanks! I think it’s fixed now. The practice came out with no gap between each line so that’s great!
