Nozzle clog/jam help?

I’ve printed a lot now but am running into some issues with a PTEG print (after many before). The filament is all bunching up right at the end of the nozzle leading to a big goop to clean up. Is that called a nozzle jam or something else? Whatever it’s called, any suggestions on how to fix?

RE: Nozzle clog/jam help?

The filament appears not to be sticking to the bed plate.

A couple of things could be causing this. One is that the bed plate is not clean. Washing it with some dish soap and hot water will help this. Another reason is that the temperature of the bed plate may not be gig enough for PETG. PETG usually requires the bed plate be at 85 to 90 degrees C.

RE:

I believe it may actually be some sort of clog causing underextrusion. But I can’t figure out how to fix.

Symptoms: (1) upgraded Bond Tech extruder clicking; (2) good first layer calibration result and good half of the first layer print but under extrude starts to happen after a few mins (see pic). See the right side was great but then as the print progressed left the underextrusion occurred. Note I applied Bed Weld to the sheet and it is adhering very well.

I did a cold pull but problem still happening. Visual inspection of the extruder without dismantling suggests it’s pretty clean. I varied the extruder tension but nothing seemed to fix.

any suggestions?

RE: Nozzle clog/jam help?

FYI I have printed quite a lot now with PETG so I don’t think it’s the printer settings.

RE: Nozzle clog/jam help?

As suggested in another thread, replace the hot end PTFE tube. What does a cold pull look like? Can you easily push the filament through manually at the hot part of the cold pull?

I don't use Bed Weld. For PETG I use a mixture of Elmer's washable school glue stick (25 cents per stick) and Windex ($3.50 for 23 ounces). Way cheaper.

Mark
