PEEI Sheet - surface peels off with prints lately? (PRUSAMENT PLA)??

I am now printig for several months with my mini. Starting a week ago, I noticed the pattern of some prints on the sheet. Before, the prints came off without leaving any trace. I also noticed that the PLA-prints seemed to stick even more to the bed than before. I printed with PRUSAMENT but also with other FIlament and the 'issues' came up with my recent PRUSAMENT prints.
--> My question ist now: is this only the normal kind of wear you have to expect from the sheets or is there anything wrong that needs to be fixed? Can there be any pruduction problem or change from storage at the inner part of the spool? As it is even with the good original PRUSAMENT I would actually dismiss the filament as source of the 'issue'.

I do not have the Mini, but I do know that prints on the PEI build plates will often leave a 'negative' after-image which will go away over time.
Now having said that, I have had two cases where stuck ABS (not PLA) prints have ruined the PEI surface. If this happens, you WILL know it, and it is far more severe than what you are describing.

Looks perfectly normal tear and wear to me. I have one printer that pretty much prints the same model day in, day out, and after a few weeks such patterns develop.
Formerly known on this forum as @fuchsr -- until all hell broke loose with the forum software...

Good to hear that. was just wondering because they did not appear at the beginning.
I always wipe the print surface with Isopropanol before printing when cold. Does this have any significance?

Alcohol will help assure that you have a clean build surface, but I doubt if it will have any significant effect on the after-images.

What @Jsw said. Plus, they usually don't come off with hot water/dish washing soap treatment either.

I printed PETG on it ( second print on new pei smooth sheet). I tried to get part off, but it stuck so hard on it, that it destroyed surface.
next time I tried with stick glue (what a mess working with it), I applay it to surface and then I just used clean paper towel to spread the glue even as possibble. I could get part of just after sheet cooled down. But there were gaps between perimeters and infill when using Hilbert curve bottom surface fill.

For PETG I use a combination of Elmers glue stick (the kind that is pink when wet) and Windex. I put some glue stick on the sheet, then spray Windex and use a kimwipe to mix it all around. It's easy to get uniform coverage as the pink color shows where the mixture is. For models with a lot of surface area on the bed, I use more glue stick. For models with less surface area, I use less glue stick. Wait till it is cold to try to remove printed parts.

I've always been a fan of Layerneer, as it goes on easily with a very thin layer that will not leave any marks on a print and will typically last for several prints with a light 'buffing' between prints with an alcohol-soaked wipe. I use it as both an adhesion booster and release agent.
It seems like Amazon is the sole distributor of Layerneer.
Some people here like a similar product, Magigoo, and there's also been mention of a '3d Lac' product as well.

I was never into that glue stick /adhesive thing. Maybe that's because I started straight with a mini and the flexible sheets so I never had to deal with glass beds... Makes the whole process much more complicated and undefined

That sheet is ruined. Do some research: PETG sticks toooo well to the PEEI sheet and may damage the surface as you learned the hard way. For PETG there is a special powder coated flexible sheet that makes PETG stick well when hot and easy to remove when cold. Available in Prusa online shop

I don't consider the build plate surfaces (smooth, textured, satin, glass) to be specific to any types of filament.
I've had good luck printing PLA, ABS/ASA and PETg on the smooth and textured plates. All of those filaments can and will print just fine on different surfaces. Some combinations may require more attention to detail and closer Z calibration.

When using glue stick you may be less specific because of the thin separation layer the glue stick gives you. It may increase traction for parts that do not stick well and decrease adhesion for PETG on the PEEI.
But I am more into using a specific sheet without adhesives at all.
Both methods may work and have their PROs and CONs 🤷

@kad370 When you order a new sheet, treat yourself to a satin sheet. It's the only one I'm using on all my printers these days. PLA, PETG, TPU, ASA, PC, everything prints great on it and comes off easily. Well, unless you forget the layerneer/glue stick with PC.

I will use this sheet for some time, and then will try to remove PEI film and replace it with Madlabs G4.
