New mini+ nozzle/extruder issues

Hey! I recently bought mini+ and did 2 succesful prints (carrying handles for case). Then my third print after couple days (PSU holder) failed in the middle - filament stopped flowing and the head moved "in the air". I followed various articles, first suspecing blocked nozzle so did a cold pull, then cleaned the nozzle (initially I could see filament remains but now it's clean), cleaned extruder, readjusted extruder gear tightness, adjusted heater block (pressing upwards) and superpinda etc. I upgraded to latest 6.4.0 firmware just before third print, if that may explain something.

At this point while filament flows, it just curls up onto the nozzle instead of flowing downwards. So this would suggest clogged nozzle, but I'm pretty sure that's fine after all adjustments. I don't see filament remains if I open the heater block. I also notice that while filament loading process pushes filament into heater block without any issue, no filament comes out of the nozzle until until I press "more" several times in "is color ok" menu (and then it curls up onto the nozzle as said before). During my first prints filament came out immediately. So at this point I don't know what else I could do. Any pointer would be much appreciated!

Maybe worth noticing I'm using original Prusa PLA filament...

This is my first 3d printer so it's possibly I'm missing something completely trivial too...

Thanks in advance!

RE: New mini+ nozzle/extruder issues

Is it a new Mini or the used one? Preassembled or kit?

It's new, preassembled.

There are a couple of possibilities but the best place to go for help with a new printer is Prusa Support via chat (bottom right of most prusa3d.com pages.)  You will need the serial number of your printer.

Cheerio,

RE:

I would double check the short PTFE tube if it is properly compressed, otherwise the filament may get jammed on the side and it needs extra puah to reach the nozzle. Also I would look carefully at the tip of the nozzle under the looking glass  to see if it was not damaged - the stick brass nozzles are quite sift and smashing them to the print bed or using shart tools such as knives or using incorrectly pliers can damage the tip.

You could try to replace the nozzle to a new one to see if it helps.

Thanks, don't like support chat in general, but I'll give it a go 🙂

RE: New mini+ nozzle/extruder issues

Just in case it will be useful for someone else in the future. Had a lenghty chat with support. Was suggested to perform 2 cold pulls. Afterwards filament started flowing better when I pushed it directly, with PTFE tube detached from heater. But it was still curling when passing it through extruder so I slightly tightened the gear. Afterwards everything started working normally!

I also learned that I shouldn't leave enclosure door open when printing PLA. This would explain why my longer print stopped working mid way.

I was also asked to measure heater resistance and it seems mine is on the high side so was asked to try printing with 5 degrees less. Didn't try this yet but will experiment with temperatures a bit if I'll have troubles printing in the future.

Thanks for all suggestions!
