I am done with Wifi.. I can use Ethernet instead can't I?

I have been playing with the "new" Wifi functionality for some months and have had enough.. I first had it synced with my TPLink mesh network and it seemed OK.. But I started loosing connection.. Disappointing as the Mesh 'pod' is only a few feet away..

I then reconfigured the mini to connect to my router, which is on a different floor and some way away, and it worked fairly well (better than the mesh).. But I would still loose connectivity regularly.

I decided to have a final throw of the dice and put it back on my mesh, and couldn't get it to connect.. So almost gave up until I did the 4.4.1 update and right away it connected.

I was hopeful that there might have been an improvement in 4.4.1, but whilst uploading my first job, it got to about 20% and threw an error.

So for me, Wifi is useless and I can't be bothered to waste any more time.. And today it dawned on me.. For the price of a Ethernet switch and an Ethernet cable that I have plenty off, I could 'hard wire' the printer instead.

This just seems the logical thing to do and will be a night and day improvement over Wifi.. But before I start doing it, can I just confirm that everything we can do over Wifi, can be done over Ethernet too? I can't see any reason why not, but just want to check before throwing more resource at this.

Cheers

Jon

Been there done that. Speed over WiFi was atrocious so I switched to Ethernet. Works like a charm.

I can also report wired Ethernet works great. Never a problem.

Is a wifi module necessary for the upgrade to 4.4.1?

Just installed a switch and connected my Mini by Ethernet and its working..

But I am surpised that the uploads are still pretty slow (A 2MB file took about 10 seconds).. Faster than Wifi for sure, but not as fast I as expected.

Its not the end of the world.. But I still can't connect to PrusaLink..

I use HTTP rather than HTTPS and I get a black screen with a horizontal line across.. But it ether finishes loading like that, or I get "Connection was reset" error.. Occasionally Prusalink loads, but it generally fails with "Connection was reset".. In truth, connecting to PrusaLink feels very similar to Wifi, so something is clearly wrong

I have tested my ethernet connection and I am getting GigaBit around the LAN, so I can't see there being a problem with the network..

Any thoughts?

Jon.

Actually, ignore that.. I dont' think I was set to Ethernet.. And was using Wifi.. .And odd that today, of all days, the Wifi seems to be working almost perfectly (no failures transferring large test files).. But i need to create a new post now as I have a Ethernet fault.
