Raspberry Pi Zero W 2 on MK4/S
I added a Pi Zero 2 W to my i3 MK3S+ to run PrusaLink. The transfer upload rate is about 50 mb/s. In comparison, the MK4S is only about 2 mb/s on ESP.
Is it possible to put a Pi Zero into the MK4/S? Can the Pi can do everything the ESP does? The Pi costs $10 at Microcenter. I see that a physical adapter might be needed to match up the pins.

The xBuddy board of the MK4 series does not have the pins that were present on the Rambo board of the MK3 series. But this was just a serial connection. You should be able to replicate this with an adapter cable micro-USB to USB-C and then set up a serial connection/port in the config of the Pi Zero.
I have no experience with PrusaLink, I use OctoPrint and there you also use a serial-over-USB connection to connect to the printer. On MK3 series printers you could also use the same onboard pin connection with OctoPrint and a Pi Zero.

The MK4/S electronics are slower to save files and Wi-Fi is not the bottleneck. The Ethernet port is equal in speed to Wi-Fi.
