I have this same behavior, and to me it seems more like the motor not the bears.  My rational is that (for me) it doesn't sound like a bearing noise and it doesn't make this sound when I move the bed manually, only when moving under power. 

This particular noise is one of most annoying my MK4 makes. 

I'' post back if I can isolate the sources on my printer.

Recently I haven't heard the groaning noise on mine that was initially present, it went away about a month after I put it together. I'm not sure what the noise was but I didn't do anything to the printer. It prints just fine still as well.

hi, just to let you know, i have factory assembled MK4 and i can hear the same weird sound, so i put printer on some rubber mat and it's less annoying, and it's still printing. i have other issues to solve before that one 😉

As an FYI to anyone else who come across this thread replacing the stock bearings with misumi did solve my problem

The solution is simple:

1. Make sure the y-axis motor holder is the latest revision (I had to replace E6 with R3).
2. Make sure the belt is slightly more tightened than the 90hz recommendation
3. Some have defective bearings (mostly on the right side) or they weren't placed correctly, replace them.

@dapperdodger I have same issue after receiving brand new MK4. Week 1 was all good, Week 2 started hearing it. In my case its not only Y but also Z axis. Scratching noise is strongest when bearing is in the middle of the axis and I can hear it when manually controlling axis position.

If I happen to order Misumi bearings from your link https://levendigs.com/products/misumi-lmu8-linear-bearing-1pc would same bearing model work for all X/Y/Z axis and how many bearings are there in all 3 axis please?

Really nice printer and suddenly need to replace parts 🙁

X and Y are 8mm (6 x LM8UU) bearings, Z are 10mm bearings (2 X LM10LUU) the 10mm bearings are long versions

Trust me, just make sure you retighten the y-belt (don't use the app but Tightening Tool instead) and also regrease your rods. That pretty normal to happen after a few weeks of usage.

I have done the following to reduce the axles' walking noise:

- hardened, grinded and polished linear rods

- original Misumi linear bearings

- tensioner pulley with 2 ball bearings

- lubrication with soft lithium soap grease

- belt tension adjusted with this tool

welche Linearwellen genau hast du? Die originalen von Prusa sind doch auch gehärtet oder? Welches Fett genau benutzt du? 
Ich nutze das Super Lube Multi Purpose synthetic grease NLGI 2. 
laut Prusa soll man den Riemen über den Belt Tuner: https://belt.connect.prusa3d.com spannen, was bei mir super genau funktioniert.

Inzwischen habe ich auf meinem alten MK3 Hiwins verbaut, aber anno dazumal habe ich die Wellen (CF53, induktiv oberflächengehärtet, gerichtet, geschliffen, poliert, gekauft bei linear-nc, welcher inzwischen aber leider offline ist)  in Kombination mit originalen Misumi Lagern (gekauft bei Misumi) verwendet. NLGI 1-2 Lithiumfett auf Seifenbasis ist gut geeignet (Marke nach Wahl). Der mechanische Gurttester arbeitet auch zuverlässig, ich habe mir aber dennoch ein eigenes Tool (nicht veröffentlicht) gebaut, welches ich für sämtliche Drucker (GT2 6mm und 8mm Gurte) verwende:

Funktioniert absolut zuverlässig.

Nachtrag:

Mein Ur Mk3, bestellt 2017, hatte anno daz. keine gehärteten Wellen verbaut (ließen sich feilen und sägen), deshalb habe noch vor der ersten Inbetriebnahme gehärtete Versionen geordert.

Inzwischen dürften aber alle Auslieferungen über gehärtete Wellen verfügen. Wo Prusa seine Linearlager bezieht, weiss ich nicht. Jedenfalls sind die originalen Misumi Lager sehr präzise aufgebaut und werden mit Schmierungsempfehlungen geliefert.

Wenn man Laufruhe will, kann man umrüsten auf präziseres Material, muss man aber natürlich nicht. Ich denke, dass die meisten BenutzerInnen mit der orig. Ausrüstung zufrieden sind.

My noise is more of a click to me. Yaxis while moving to home (back) position. Just started but doesn't seem to affect prints. MK4 assembled by factory; bearings?

auf den aktuellen Lagern ist keine Marke aufgedruckt. Sie sind komplett Clean. Auf meine Frage an den Support, welche Lager sie nutzen, antwortete man mir, die wir am besten durch unsere Tests geeignet finden. Also vermute ich mal, dass es keine Misumi Lager mehr sind. 

@JC: do you have an example Video where we can hear the Noise?
