5.0.1 MK4 firmware not supporting binary gcode

So, the new firmware does not work with binary gcode. I've tried plugging in the USB to the computer, direct upload to PrusaLink, and upload from PrusaSlicer to PrusaLink, and I can't get binary gcode to work.

RE:

No, 5.0.1 doesn't work with binary gcode.

From the Prusaslicer release notes:

To print a binary G-code, it has to be supported by firmware of the printer. For Original Prusa MINI, MK4 and XL printers, this is supported since version 5.1.0-alpha2. It is necessary to update printer firmware before using the binary G-code format.

But it should be supported. And I do have 5.0.1 on the MK4.

RE: 5.0.1 MK4 firmware not supporting binary gcode

Although 5.0.1 is the latest release, it was developed some time ago and then undergoes testing.. At the time 5.0.1 was "frozen" for testing, binary GCode was not used. In order to 'fix' the connection speed, one solution was to compress the ASCII (text) GCODE, but this development started after 5.0.1 was frozen.. and so the latest release will not support binary gcode.. To get that feature you need to use an Alpha release (5.1) but that is not a fully tested (QC) release yet so you might find some bugs.
