MK4 Loud noise while printing
I've printed 15 or so things since I first built my MK4, and during the last print which was a 15h long one, mid-way through it started making this horrible high-pitched noise. I'm not sure what is causing it, is it the extruder or one of the x/y axis?

Can't figure out how to edit my first post, but it appears my video didn't make it through.

Hi Skint007,
From your first post, the link for the video had formatting information surrounding it, which stopped the link displaying...
See below
I copied the video link and deleted the formatting information, and not the link shows in your first post.
My concern is that I Don't know where the formatting information comes from, as I don't get that problem, myself...
Weird...
Similar formatting information van stop images displaying, too.
regards Joan

RE: MK4 Loud noise while printing
My MK4 just started to exhibit the exact same sound after 6 days of otherwise quiet printing!

The first quick and painless remedy to try is a little lubrication on the smooth rods.
Cheerio,

Thanks for the suggestion! My issue has been isolated to the idler lever as I can reproduce the issue by manually moving the E-axis with filament loaded and reproduce the sound.
Other users have suggested I reprint the part which I will do once I receive my PETG and textured plate. I've tried disassembling and cleaning out the bearing pockets but no success yet. The manufactured part appears to be poorly made/warped.

In case it helps anyone, the issue for me was indeed the extruder. After needing to change filaments, I tried to unload it and the filament got stuck because it had a blob on the end. I ended up continually backing out the extruder by 5mm until I had it cleared and picked out any little pieces of filament along the way.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I did the same thing last night and found no real debris in the Nextruder gear so my issue persists.
I'm glad your printer is back to normal though!
