Magnet for Enclosure Doors for Original Prusa - MK4

Hi All,

I've got the enclosure assembled with the MK4 inside it and did a test print which printed fine.

In the instructions, it describes the door enclosure parts as magnetic. However, they are not magnetic - just plastic which does not adhere to any metal.

I'm considering buying magnets from Amazon or a local hardware store to solve the challenge of the doors not  staying closed.

Has anyone added magnets to the MK4 original enclosure door parts above the door handles?

Thank you.

Let’s try this again, this time with the full post I was trying to type!

Mine definitely has magnets, go back and check step 30 in the installation instructions:

As ChiefSmeg says they are definitely there, but one place they are worth adding is for stay open hinges, I used this one: https://www.printables.com/model/332622

I'm glad you got yours but on Step 30 having few parts left to install they did not include any magnetic parts. I can place the "door magnets" as designated in the instructions again the metal enclosure and they do not adhere. I can take strong magnets used elsewhere and they do not adhere to the enclosed door magnets. The replacements they sent are the same - just plastic, not magnetic. I had 2 other people closely examine all the parts and they concluded also that no parts arrived magnetized. Now, I must buy magnets to keep the doors shut.

I’d contact customer support and get them to send you the magnets. There was a single rubber pad missing from my printer kit and they sent me replacements VERY fast

Hi Chief... Yes, I did contact Prusa and they were very responsive but they  just sent me the same kinds of door handles as they originally boxed. No silver magnet parts. A friend emailed me photos of what his looks like and they are silver but ours are black and non-magnetic.

It is not the the handles, it is not the corners, it is the silver bits you push into them that are magnetic. If you had told them the magnets were missing they would have sent you replacement magnets, if you told them there was a problem with the handles, they would have sent replacement handles. You need to be specific when telling them what the problem is, all the parts are listed and named explicitly in step 29 so workout what parts are missing and get support to send those.
