Filament does not purge during calibration

Everything succeeded during calibration, hotbed and extruder heated up, filament calibration succeeded - watched filament advance in. Next step is purging, which it does not do.

I have used the retry option, as well as unloading and reloading the pla filament. and then going thru the calibration again.

I'm noticing that this opens automatically during filament loading, should it? I'm thinking that the idler assembly might not be latching properly when the filament is unloaded? What should I check?

there should be a toggle mechanism, held in place be two screws with compression springs at the top of the extruder

Joan is correct, just wanted to point you to the MK4 assembly guide:

https://help.prusa3d.com/guide/5-nextruder-assembly_434014#443448

The instructions don't actually tell you to close the latch, but you can see it closed in step 28 and forward 🙂

Yep I had tightened those screws to what the assembly manual wanted, flush with the idler opening.  backed it off a few turns and the "original prusa" keychain test print went just fine.

On a side note, uploaded images to this forum are getting weirdly cropped.

cropping is dependent on how you add the images.
If you add them in one way, they are reduced in size but display full size in the image window,
BUT THEY DON'T show larger when clicked upon.
when I add pictures the image window shows part of the image. but when you click on the image, the forum shows a larger full image

is this what you are saying?

What should I do if the top part keeps sleeping off?

A better explanation of the issue might help, perhaps some pictures to demonstrate what the issue is.

Sorry for the delay; what I mean is on the video. The screws are as loose as they can be, but I'm still not able to close it

The default "Add Media" button does not seem to work normally. Can you see the link?

Good morning Maria,

It looks like your Idler swivel is assembled incorrectly.

Check the piece above

looks like your assembly for the swivel is too high    the part that the arrow points to, seems incorrectly installed

Well spot Joan.

Yes, that part is installed the wrong way round - the two dimples should be pointing upwards. The two screws with springs should then be inserted through the part so that the ends are just flush with the opposite side.
