We are hiring - Technical writer
Hi,
we are expanding our Content team and currently looking for a skilled 3D enthusiast, who will join us in creating new content for the community.
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
For a colleague, who enjoys 3D printing and has a general overview of the technologies, materials, and procedures. We are looking for a walking 3D printing encyclopedia. You will write guides for the users and help them with the issues they encounter while using the printer. You must be consistent, precise, and fluent in English. All the articles are primarily written in English, then translated into multiple languages.
WHAT’S THE JOB ABOUT?
As a technical writer, your typical task will be a description of a new feature in the firmware or a solution to a problem with the printer. You will do your research, write the article, discuss it with the developers and other experienced colleagues. You will test the suggested procedure directly on the printer, take pictures, shoot the video yourself, or in cooperation with other colleagues from the Content team.
In case the provided solution requires replacing some parts on the printer, you will do it together with our guide gurus. On the e-shop you will check the availability of the parts, verify their description, and if anything will be missing, inform the product manager.
WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW/HAVE?
- experience with 3D printing and troubleshooting
- the ability to write comprehensible instructions
- advanced English
- basics of DSLR photography including post-processing
- be polite but strong and consistent in communication with the developers
- able to work independently without constant supervision
- preferably based in the Czech Republic
WHAT ELSE DO WE LOOK FOR?
- experience with technical documentation
- experience with video making
- interest in 3D printers and general knowledge of the market
WHAT DO WE OFFER?
- A company to be proud working for, helping share the Open Source initiative
- Startup culture, direct contact with the supervisors, flexible working hours
- Learn from the best, we have many years of experience in the field
- Salary based on your skills and experience
- Access to the 3D printers for your own projects
- We will help you to further improve your 3D printing skills
- Access to the Haribo bears, for scientific purposes of course
Are you interested? Send me an e-mail to jakub[DOT]dolezal[AT]prusa3d[DOT]com. Introduce yourself, describe your experience, share your projects and I will get in touch.
Looking forward to meeting you 🙂

Believe me, 30 years ago I would have loved it! Prusa sounds like an awesome company. It would be tough now, though I'm happy to contribute.
This makes me think Prusa is about to do for documentation what they've done for slicers. Good news for users!

RE: We are hiring - Technical writer
Is the position still open?
I am a retired Technical Writer. I developed manuals for electrical and electronic equipment as well as software. I wrote for Industrial Testing, Medical, as well as Transportation equipment. I put together the main Software Control manual, and added to the Hardware Hookup and Troubleshooting manual for a Process Control System used at Power Plants (Coal and Nuclear), and Waste Water plants built by Emerson Process Management.
I am new to 3D printing, but have experienced and fixed several several problems building and running the new 3D printer. I have used the forum and found several helpful tips that could go into a Troubleshooting section or as a new manual.
I do not have a second language but, I have edited several manuals written in other languages that I transferred into English.
I look forward to talking to you about this position.

I have sent information on what I think was a correction to the Installation manual and have several others I will add later.

RE: We are hiring - Technical writer
Not sure what the post is all about. If this is a Technical Writer position opening and it is still available, I am interested.
RE: We are hiring - Technical writer
I'm an old broke-down engineer from the 70's with some time on my hands, so I might be interested in doing some part-time technical writing from my home here in Ohio. I have done lots of technical writing over my career, and it turns out I have a particular eye for English prose - I can spot a typo or a context mistake from a mile away in the middle of a thunderstorm ;).
As far as qualifications, I would refer you to my blog site 'Paynters Palace' at fpaynter.com, where you can see what I've been doing. I currently have a Prusa MK3S and a FlashForge Creator Pro 2 IDEX printer, but I have previously worked with several other printers.
Let me know

RE: We are hiring - Technical writer
I'm a seasoned engineer from the 1970s era who finds himself with some spare time these days. I'm considering the prospect of engaging in part-time technical writing from my home in Ohio. Throughout my career, I've accumulated extensive experience in technical writing and have developed a keen eye for the nuances of English prose. You could say I can spot a typo or a contextual error from a mile away, even in the midst of a thunderstorm!
In terms of qualifications, I'd like to direct you to my blog, 'Paynters Palace,' which can be found at fpaynter.com. There, you can get a sense of my work and what I've been up to. Presently, I operate a Prusa MK3S and a FlashForge Creator Pro 2 IDEX printer, but I've had experience with several other 3D printers in the past.
