Tuning PID
Hello all!
I've been having issues with my printer holding temperature (I'll tell it to print at 220C/55 and it'll print at 214/55, and continue to go down from there) I wanted to tune the PID settings through Pronterface. I plugged in the printer with the supplied USB cable, into a USB 2.0 Port, opened up Pronterface, hit the "Connect" button, and then nothing happened. It keeps showing "Connecting..." and nothing ever changes. I'm not sure why this is happening or what I can do. This temperature issue has been quite annoying as I can't print a few filaments I just bought because the temperature keeps dropping. Is there some way of fixing this issue?

I also tried changing the USB port, I kept getting this error:
[ERROR] Could not connect to COM3 at baudrate 115200:
Serial error: could not open port COM3: [Error 5] Access is denied.

Your forum search skills or mention that you have searched all relevant posts but didn#t find any inspiration to your problem.

Search is going to be the best help, but basically, you can:
make sure you have the set screw in the heater block for the thermistor ( http://shop.prusa3d.com/forum/prusa-i3-kit-building-calibrating-first-print-main-f6/thermistor-screw-t2635.html )
increase power supply voltage
modify PID settings (does not work on firmware v3.0.9 https://github.com/prusa3d/Prusa-Firmware/issues/18
I still get thermal errors with bridging PETG, but I am getting closer to the best settings.

Actually it does work and the effects can be seen in the OctoPrint temperature graphs.

I am printing right now, but please accept that this is the graph after setting the PID in GCode:
Note that I am using a sock and without the PID settings, the temps vary rapidly by +- 5 degrees.
