Hi,

I was printing a large UAV Wing with my old Robo R1+ but it failed for the last time.   I can't wait to build my new Prusa i3 MK3+!    2 - 4 weeks is going to seem like forever but it's worth the wait.

Sorry to hear your Robo R1+ died but congrats on the new MK3S+!

To help with managing the wait, I suggest reading the online assembly manual, including all of the comments. It’s an incredible resource and well worth getting familiar with ahead of the build.

I hope you and your son have a blast building your new printer together!

Cheers

Yes, read well several times the assembly manual online but, if you want my opinion, in spite of what the manual might say, please pack well with grease all the Misumi bearings before mounting them into the smooth rods. Use the lube included in the kit or any good quality lithium/ PTFE general purpose grease, i.e. Superlube 21030.

You are gonna love it and it will be the best printer you have owned.  Expect just a little growing pain from the Robo.

Be sure to soak the bearings in IPA first to remove the packaging oil, then dry thoroughly before lubing.

There is some conspiracy or disagreement to lubing your bearings.  I would say it is a best practice.  I did it on 3 of my 5 MK3S printers but I can’t say there has been much difference in performance.
