Kuwait's Ministry of Health Central Printing Farm

Hello Everyone,

I would like to share a special project going on here in the Ministry of Health in Kuwait to provide face shields and develop and produce Nasopharyngeal swabs locally. As a doctor and a 3d printing hobbyist, I proposed the idea in March to set up a central printing farm under the umbrella of the Ministry of Health here in Kuwait. After approval, the Ministry's Training Center was provided to use as space for this project.

We circulated an invitation via social media platforms to the 3d printing community in Kuwait to volunteer printers and within a short period of time we were overwhelmed with the response and received more than 40 printers along with spare parts, laser cutting machines, 3 industrial resin printers, supercomputers, and of course filament. All this was provided as a voluntary contribution to the effort!

Our team consists of professional designers, 3d printer technicians, laser machine operators, along with assembly and logistics team; all of whom are working at the facility day and night since March as volunteers 100% to serve the frontliners of Kuwait in hospitals, quarantine centers, field clinics, EMTs, and everyone else within the healthcare system.

I would like to share our experience as evidence of the beauty and power of unity and dedication in the most challenging times and as acknowledgement of the effectiveness of 3d printers in the face of disrupted supply chains and traditional manufacturing methods.

Prusa Printers comprise a bulk of our printing farm and as one can say with pride and confidence, they are incredible performers! Our technical team has completed 2 rounds of comprehensive maintenance on the entire fleet and so far we are getting an amazing yield. We are comprising an order list of necessary replacement parts - hopefully we will not face challenges with shipping to Kuwait.

We are currently running 2 main product lines - face shields and nasopharyngeal swabs. Our finalised results re: swabs will be published soon to share with the world!

Welcome to the forum. Fantastic assembling the print farm.

I invite you to also expand to producing higher level PPE (PAPR's).

It is easily within reach, especially with you already established infrastructure.
