Assembly Step 14 - M3x20 won't engage
- I have successfully engaged the M3x40 screw with the M3nE nut when connectingtconnecting Y and XZ assemblies, but the M3x20 screw will not engage with its nut, no matter what I do. Has anyone else encountered this problem?
RE: Assembly Step 14 - M3x20 won't engage
Worked for me after I nudged the nut with the allen key a few times - a few things that come to mind that might be worth a shot. I'm sure you have seen it, but just in case, here is the Mini assembly video directly from Prusa.
- Can you screw the M3x20 directly into the nut without the assembly, just to test the threads? Does it go on smoothly?
- Is the M3x40 nice and loose? If it's tight it may cause a weird angle or binding on the M3x20.
- If you haven't already, try lifting the Y assembly on the box of the power supply like in the how-to video, makes it easier to access.
Good luck!
RE: Assembly Step 14 - M3x20 won't engage
I received mine today and am having the same problem. I took the spare m3x40 and screwed it into the nut to compare how it would line up with hole. The picture does not quite do it enough justice. The nut does not have enough mobility between the top and bottom and the hole in xz is too long to allow the bolt to angle down. tried for an hour and all I do is create metal shavings.

was able to do it. take a break. come back and try to catch the nut slowly and angle correctly without relying on the hook that is supposed to keep the nut in place

I had this problem yesterday as well. Not sure if this will work for you, but I flipped the whole setup on it's side with the rail facing up so the T-nut would lay flat and used the allen wrench to nudge it into the center of the track. At that point I was able to get engagement.

I had this problem as well today when assembling it. It took me almost an hour to catch the thread of the nut. You just have to play with it. A lot. I also flipped it sideways and that helped if i remember correctly.
