Retraction Issue?

Hello, hoping someone can point me in the right direction. I have 2 Minis both with Bondtech extruders and heat breaks.

Attached is a picture showing some banding issues I am getting but only when the nozzle needs to move from 1 area to another. I use the estep and pid gcode provided by Bondtech. I also changed the nozzle retraction from 3.2 default to 2.4mm and for about 3 prints both Minis printed great but then went back to this stringing/banding issue.

Can someone please point me in the right direction? The part on the right in the picture was one of the good prints after changing retraction from 3.2 to 2.4. On the left is obviously the problem piece.

Thanks anyone for any help! My 2 Minis have been a headache, I find myself wishing I'd have just bought another MK3S.

RE: Retraction Issue?

This looks like another version of the "bulge" issue. I've seen these lines aligned with the beginnings and ends of screw holes in flat surfaces.

This is a well-known phenomenon, with more than 20 pages discussion in this forum.

To quote @bobstro:

Happily, this was described as a "buldge" in an early post and that misspelling has made the problem very easy to search for. There are several threads you might want to look through:
[Thread one - Buldge when print reaches "solid" layers.]( https://forum.prusa3d.com/forum/original-prusa-i3-mk3s-mk3-how-do-i-print-this-printing-help/buldge-when-print-reaches-solid-layers/)

Thanks I will look into it...I had on idea what to even refer to it as to search for it. Just seems so weird the for about 3 prints it went great then wth no change at all it's back to looking crappy. Thanks for the direction though 👍🏻

After researching it's not a buldge issue with my Minis HOWEVER I do have a small buldge issue with my MK3S now that I know what I am looking at. Thanks for that info...now I have 2 problems to fix 🤦🏻‍♂️😂

Ok I'll start researching transitions then thank you. I didn't have this issue with the factory Prusa extruder and heat break...but of course those parts caused constant extruder clicking and failure and clogs no matter how many times I adjusted it....the Bondtech parts have been fantastic other than the transitions and stinging.
