Enclosure for my new Mk4 printer.....
Hi Folks, In the process of building the `Enclosure for my new Mk4 printer`....are there any special thing to do IF I want to remove the printer for maintainence ?
RE: Enclosure for my new Mk4 printer.....
Is the enclosure now fully compatible with the MK4?
I'm tempted to get one too.....

Hi from NZ,
I have assemble the Mk4 enclosure to this stage (photo, thats a reflection from the back window) & put some LED strip in I think it will need some lighting.
I`m having fun printing at the moment but will finish it in a few days. I did not see the Utube videos, the Prusa build managed it with the printed version.
Q. I use the Mk4 `smooth PEI` sheet & not knowing any different printed the lifting handle in PETG...oops it took some of the surface PEI off.
Have you tried any Hairspray on the PEI sheet ?

It absolutely is. My Mk4 sits in the Prusa enclosure and loves it a lot, especially when printing with PETG. 🙂

Hmmmm.......not sure if the enclosure will fit in the area I have my printer at the moment!.....

Yes, that thing is quite large - but not much larger than the area you need to clear for all of the cables, anyway. It fits quite perfectly on a LACK table with only the LCD sticking out.
RE: Enclosure for my new Mk4 printer.....
Modded the thing to feed filament through the top now, so that I can print PETG directly from the dryer. I love this enclosure, I have to admit that.
RE: Enclosure for my new Mk4 printer.....
Hello, I am going to feed the same through the top from my`Sunlu`..........
Also printed 2 lifting handle.
RE: Enclosure for my new Mk4 printer.....
Go on - we all want the build video!

Yes and No.... The enclosure itself has always been compatible with the MK4 -- but the quick-connect accessory is NOT compatible with the MK4 yet. Prusa reps have told customers that a quick-connect is coming for the MK4, but no specific date has been given for availability.

Is that a big issue? I don't really see the need for such a thing - when you mount the LCD outside the enclosure, taking the printer out of that box will be quite the hassle either way.

The quick connect is a huge convenience for those who do frequent maintenance or need to swap out printers. That's why Prusa developed and marketed it. It is not currently available for the MK4, and that is a problem for some users (I am happy it is not an issue for you, but that doesn't mean it isn't an issue for others). You are correct that the LCD, if mounted outside, leads to a similar issue -- but that's why many of us leave the LCD attached to the printer.
RE: Enclosure for my new Mk4 printer.....
Please don't get me wrong, I really just meant to ask why that thing may be important for people - the Mk4 is my very first 3D printer and I have only had it for a week, so I generally assume that everything I don't understand does actually make sense and that I just don't get the point. 🙂
RE: Enclosure for my new Mk4 printer.....
I'd like it more for dust protection then anything else!

That was my initial thought. too. But when I compared PETG prints before and after moving the printer to the enclosure, I also liked what I saw. And it is a fantastic frame for attaching all kinds of bits and pieces. 🙂
RE: Enclosure for my new Mk4 printer.....
This is also the reason that the enclosure kit is sat on my workbench ready to be assembled as soon as I get the time

RE:
And now it is all finished. Nice and easy build, but I did make mistakes that I had to back track and they were all stupid errors too!
RE: Enclosure for my new Mk4 printer.....
I used your video to build my mk4, but i couldnt find a single great enclosure build video. Would be dope if you could make an enclosure build for others 😀 Using the assembly manual was fine but i much prefer following video tutorials lol
RE: Enclosure for my new Mk4 printer.....
Just to update to this thread -- the MK4 version of the enclosure quick-connect is now available:
RE: Enclosure for my new Mk4 printer.....
Thanks........ Now all we need are plugs for the computer box & control panel to be permanently outside....this would make it ideal for quick release for maintanence, What do you think ?
