Why does print speed change when object is consistently the same

I am printing a shelf leg and am curious why my print speed drops for one of the objects at the exact layer the other object finishes.  It looks like it drops from 85 to around 37.  Also, if I print just the taller one, the speed is around 37 for the whole print.  Thanks for any advice.

Might have to do with the cooling threshold settings of your filament: (Filament settings/Cooling/Cooling thresholds)

If the printing time for a certain layer is below the specified value, the whole printing process is slowed down.

You wouldn't really expect that setting in that place, would you? 🙂

Its exactly that, 'Slow down if print layer time'.  The time taken to print just the cylinder falls below the threshold and therefore the speed is changed.  This setting catches a lot of people out.  Just set it to something very small like 1-5 seconds and save the filament profile as a custom one and then use that from now on.

That was it.  Thanks so much!!!  I never thought to check that.  Unfortunately for this print it only saved 4 min so I decided to leave at default.  But now I know.
