Thread for former Cura users? (Retraction Distance & Retraction Speed)

Hi all.

I was hoping to find a thread for former Cura users. It would've been a great thread to have. I am battling for the past 3 hours or so to find equivalent settings.

Firstly: I am looking to find the settings in PS for Retraction Distance & Retraction Speed.

Secondly: "M73 command is not supported" I get this message i my Duet web UI and don't know where to look for it.

Thirdly: When my prints starts to print the skirt, the extruder's gears spin so much that it calves out the filament to such an extend that it is to thin for the gears to grip to feed.

I will really, really appreciate it if someone will be able to assist me.

Thanks so long.

Retraction is defined under the Printer>Extruder section.  You may need to be in advanced/Expert mode to see it (im not in fromt of PS right now so Im going from memory).

It can be over riden on the Filaments profile, theres a tab for over rides on there.  If set in a filament it will use that instead of the extruder setting.

M73 - What firmware flavour do you have selected under Printer>General ?  It sounds like its not the correct type to match the firmware you have in your printer.  What firmware is your duet board running ?

It also sounds like the speeds you have set for your machine are set too fast.  So basically you need to be checking all the settings for your actual machine under Printer.

@neophyl

Thank you so much for your reply.

I managed to find the settings for M73.

Regarding retractions ... what makes it difficult trying to sort of duplicate settings from Cura to PS, is that different wording is sometimes used.

Do you think there is a chance that the admins can maybe create a thread specifically for "former Cura users"? I think it will help makings a transition more "bearable". I almost gave up today but the only thing driving to try and resolve the issue, is that many people printing with a multi-extrusion printer, recommended PS above Cura. I cannot manage to get good results in Cura and thought I will give PS a try.

After managing to sort of get settings OK with 1 extruder, I will now add a second extruder. This took me about 4 hours. If there was a thread for former Cura users, I am sure I would have resolved it much quicker.

Thanks again.
