There is an object with no extrusions on the first layer

I imported an STL and used the Cut feature to split the object in half, keeping the upper portion - the object is symmetrical - when I go to slice I get the error message in the thread title above.  I don't know what to do to make the object extrude

I suspect it is in the print settings>skirt and brim menu, attached is an image of the settings.

The picture doesn’t help much. This could be a bunch of things. If you save the project as a .3MF file and then upload it here, folks can take a look at what’s going on. Alas, this forum doesn’t accept 3MF files so you need to zip it before uploading.

Zip of 3mf file attached.

I was able to print using a different 3mf, but I want to know what is wrong with this one so I can avoid it in the future

Thanks!

This is an easy one.  Load in your project.  First of all I would like to direct your attention to the Tree view panel on the right hand side.  Notice you have 2 objects on the plater.
You have a very tiny version of the full bomb on the plater.  Its located under your enlarged and cut in half version.  So you cant see it.  Mistake number 1 🙂

The tiny full stl only has a fin on the plater.  That fin is so small that with the 0.4mm nozzle (with 0.45mm extrusion width) you have that it wont print anyway.  That's mistake number 2 😉  Couple that with a 0.2 elephants foot adjustment that moves all first layer perimeters in by 0.2mm and it would have zero chance of printing even with a 0.25mm nozzle.  Thats what is giving you the error message.

RE: There is an object with no extrusions on the first layer

I found this post with the problem that the part touching the bed was too thin to slice.

I'm posting here so that someone else with the same problem might benefit from my mistake.

Check for knife thin edges contacting the bed.
