Supports are destroying this print

Good morning all! 

After attempting to print this file in multiple angles, I can't seem to get a clean print where my supports are and never had this happen before. I'm getting really bad wavy lines where the supports are and it eats through the perimeters. This also happens on the front side when I try to print the model upright, it makes these wavy lines... 

I'm machine is a Ender 5 Plus w/ a Microswiss DD Hotend and I'm  using Fiberlogy White Easy PLA at 205 deg for printing. 

I'm really at odds as to why this is occurring and would love some extra thoughts if anyone has any.

Wavy lines, the likes of which I've never seen on my prints previously. 

And what I found even more interesting, is the supports themselves look very clean and smooth

You should orient the object such that the number of supports is minimized. It should be able to stand upright with a brim and a slow print speed. No supports necessary. This would end up being faster and use less material.

I don't own an Ender or  print with a microswiss, and its very hard to tell from your pictures whats going on, but I did notice that your printing at what looks to be about 50 to 55 degree angle, and I cant tell if you have any interface layers there as it looks like the viewing option is set to speed instead of feature and the image is tiny. I do see that it says you have 4 listed in the support materials window.

However without being able to see much I have a suggestion, you have your "X Y Separation between an object and it's supports" set to 75% that's kinda high IMO, and at the angle your part is sitting, that might be forcing a separation that's reducing the Z contact distance for your interface layers in some areas even more then 0.25 also kinda high IMO. try reducing the "X Y Separation between an object and it's supports" and see in slicer, if that improves the contact for the interface layers.

I recently ran into this problem while trying to help another user in slicer 2.4 fraught with bugs edition.

If you change your support to snug style, and then reduce the "X Y Separation between an object and it's supports" while re-slicing and looking at it each time, you may see the supports move back into position. In my case I was dealing with a 59 degree angle and I actually had to set my Z contact distance for interface layers to 0.01 and do all the adjustments with the"X Y Separation between an object and it's supports" setting.

Anyway that was my experience and I'm just guessing that this might be the problem your having as well.

 

A Zipped up .3MF project file goes a long way. If you decide to post one, make sure it's zipped or the forum file server will not accept it.

that might be forcing a separation that's reducing the Z contact distance for your interface layers in some areas even more then 0.25

 

I wrote reducing Z contact I meant to say "increasing" the distance. not reducing it.

Thanks all! Very good write-up, thanks @Swiss_Cheese! 

An interesting note.. I swapped out the Fiberlogy with eSun, same file, same orientation, and an almost perfect print. I did some calibration testing with Fiberlogy White and thought I  had it all sussed out, but on angels and curves, it prints really bad. Need to do more testing with it. 

Thanks for all the suggestions, I will give these a go as well.
