Support material out the top of the object

I have a project file that shows support material extending through the top of the object for no reason. I just opened it in 2.3.0 and the problem is still there.

I'd be happy to send the 3mf to someone if they would like to look at it.

Hi Jim, can you add the 3mf file, and then if someone can help, they have the goodies

Don't forget to Zip the 3mf, or the forum will not allow you to add the file

When I attach the zip of the 3mf file I get "you are not allowed to upload a file of this type." The file is only 176kb.  Any advice?

support through the roof.3mf

Perhaps this works? I inserted it as a media file. It is a zip of the 3mf.

RE: Support material out the top of the object

Known issue.  This has been reported I think a few times.  Found one of them here https://github.com/prusa3d/PrusaSlicer/issues/5054

If you alter your support pattern spacing from 5mm to something less (I tried a few and 2-3mm or less works fine) then you don't get the support through the roof.  Happens on curved parts.

Also can I ask why you are printing with the part at that orientation ? Why not just place the flat part on the bed ?

Personally if I was printing this I would print like so ..

Attached a PS 2.3.0 project for the pictured orientation and support settings.

Thanks for the pointer to the github bug report; I should have found that myself.

Yes, I did print the actual part flat. I saw this after importing a whole bunch of parts. I saved the 3mf for reporting, then sorted out the parts for better orientation. When I came back to this last week I deleted all the other parts and just left this one - forgot to look at orientation.

Thank you for the help.
