Skirt blobs and retraction knock will be the end of me!

Hi,

New to the forum. Loving the Prusa slicer. The print time reductions are unreal. I have cut down 1-hour prints to 22 minutes BUT I get skirt blobs and it interferes with my print. I also have a knocking sound when retraction occurs (or at least that's what I think it is)

My hardware:

Printer: Flashforge Adventurer 4

Media: PLA

Print job load method: USB Disk

I have a custom set of Adventurer 4 configurations imported into Prusa Slicer so that my ADV4 works better as Prusa Slicer does not support the Adventurer 4 natively, it only provides options for the Adventure 5 and the 5 pro. The default config for a build plate of my size didn't work well, so I uploaded a .INI file with custom configs for the ADV4 printer, after which it worked better. Most of my stringing issues went away.

I have 2 problems I'd like to address. The first is the skirt blob it seems to have with every job. Once it dumps the blob, it doesn't retract, as you can see in the pictures, it extrudes a line of filament up to the starting point of the part and from there the print job continues and when it moves from part to part it will repeat that line that should actually be retracted. I usually print each part completely first, before moving on to the next, to avoid this but it still happens either way.

Have a listen to the audio file I attached, you'll clearly hear the knock. This does not happen when I use Flashprint. So, this means I am doing something wrong in Prusa Slicer. Also, I have added a video for you to see what the extruder does in this case. I thought a video would be more helpful than only pictures.

I have also attached a ZIP file of the STL and the 3MF file for you guys to look at. I'm convinced I've done something incorrectly. Happy to learn. You'll see the link to the ZIP file just below the last image. Thanks.

Hi and welcome.  Your zip made it through but the audio and video didn't.

Looking at the project and the slice preview and gcode the printer is being told to retract the 15mm it is configured for.  However it is obviously not doing so from the pics.  How sure are you about the feed rates of F3000 in the gcode ?  If it cant manage those feed rates it will cause this possibly.  Maybe the audio/video if it had made it to the post could have given more data but I'd start with that.

Hi there,

Thank you for the reply. I'm not sure about the F3000 at all to be honest. I'm not sure what it should be. I looked at the GCode now and I see F3000 everywhere. What sort of value should it be?

As for the audio and the video, let me try upload again. For some reason it was not allowed.
